About Bio-Fuels
Bio-Fuels Inc. diverts waste wood material from landfill in Edmonton and surrounding area, processing it into chips for transport to the Dapp Power facility north of Westlock, Alberta.
What we do
- Receive and process waste wood into biomass chips
- Support renewable energy production through biomass feedstock
- Provide seasonal wood mulch / bedding material when available
How it connects
Bio-Fuels and Dapp Power are affiliated through common ownership. Dapp Power is a 16.5 MW generating facility that provides power into the Alberta grid, using various sources of waste wood biomass as fuel.
Environmental and compliance notes
Dapp Power has been operating since 2006 under an approval from Alberta Environmental Protection and is described as being in full compliance with requirements for site emissions control. Wood ash byproduct may be used by local area landowners as a soil conditioner to raise pH levels and add nutrients to agricultural land (as appropriate).
