Bio-Fuels Recycling Center; Fortistar Biomass Group (Canada)

ABOUT US

Biofuels Inc. operates as an independent enterprise engaged in the diversion of waste wood material from landfill in Edmonton and surrounding area. Biofuels receives and processes waste wood into chips for transport to the Dapp Power plant facility north of Westlock, Alberta. Use of wood biomass residuals for energy production is considered CO2 neutral in the environment and therefore power generated at Dapp Power qualifies as renewable energy. The byproduct (wood ash) is used by local area landowners as a soil conditioner to raise ph levels and add nutrients to agricultural land.

Biofuels and Dapp Power are affiliated through common ownership. Dapp Power is a 16.5 MW electrical generating facility provides power into the Alberta electrical grid system and using various sources of waste wood biomass as fuel.

The Dapp plant uses a process to convert wood waste to combustible gasses then creates electrical energy for sale into the power grid.

Dapp Power has been operating since 2006 under an Approval from Alberta Environmental Protection and is in full compliance with the requirements for site emissions control.
